People: Erdoğan fires deputy governor

Turkey: In another unexpected move, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan fired one of the deputy governors of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, Murat Çetinkaya, on March 30. Erdoğan named Mustafa Duman to replace Çetinkaya.

Çetinkaya – who shares his name with the CBRT’s governor between 2016 and 2019 – is a former chief executive of the Istanbul stock exchange. He assumed the deputy governorship in August 2019.  

According to Bloomberg Turkey, Duman became deputy general manager
